Successful Weekend for Cross Country Team

This past weekend the RCHS cross country team competed in the Area 8 Championships at North Laurel High School. Out of the 11 runners that competed, 10 set a new personal record, or PR, for their 5K time, and another set a season PR. Five members of the boys team set a new school record for fastest team average time with a time of 19:48:61. These runners include Jared Sanders, Justin Stearns, Jamison Bartrug, Jovani Lucas, and Nathan Garland. Justin Stearns and Jared Sanders also beat the school record for fastest individual time previously held by Jovani Lucas. Justin finished with a time of 19:21:34, and Jared finished with a time of 18:49:06 which put him as the new Russell County High School record holder for the 5K. Other members of the team that participated this weekend include Kiara Cowan, Tyler Lulek, Jagger McFarland, Jonah Lawson, Christina Aleman, and Caleb Howard.
