FAFSA Event Thursday and Friday

It’s FAFSA week here at RCHS. The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is essential to fill out for anyone seeking a college education. This application shows your eligibility for financial student aid. Ms. Robin Rixon, the College and Career Readiness Counselor, is holding appointments to help students fill out the FAFSA on October 5th from 1:00-5:00, and October 6th from 8:00-12:00. This process takes approximately 30 minutes. Appointments will be held in the RCHS library, and walk-ins are also welcome.

It’s very important that you bring appropriate financial documents with you to your appointment. They are as follows:

  • 2016 Income Tax Returns for the parents or guardians and the student (if student filed taxes for 2016)
  • W-2’s for 2016
  • Documents for any assets (bank/savings account, stocks/bonds/CD’s, investments like 529s and education savings plans, homes you do NOT live in, investment farms, and businesses that employ more than 100 people)
  • Social Security Numbers for parent(s) and student
  • Alien Registration number (if not a US citizen)
  • Valid email addresses for parent(s) and student
  • List of schools your student has/will be applying
  • FSA ID for ONE parent and the student which will serve as electronic signatures (creating them ahead of time will save you 10-15 minutes when you file the FAFSA- or you can create them during your FAFSA appointment- to create a FSA ID, please visit FSAID.ED.GOV)
