Cross Country Region Meet

On Saturday, October 28th, the Russell County High School Cross Country team competed at the Region 5 AA Cross Country Meet in Wayne County. 12 teams reported for the boys, and 7 teams reported for the girls. Out of the 56 girls that reported to the line in the girl’s race Kiara Cowan was the top finisher for Russell County at 39th with a time of 26:47; followed by Blakely Richardson and Christina Aleman finishing 47th and 48th. 13 schools comprised of 80 runners reported to the start line for the boys varsity meet. Jared Sanders was top finisher for the boys placing 34th with a time of 19:48. The remaining boys finished as follows: Jovani Lucas finished 46th, Nathan Garland finished 52nd, Justin Stearns finished 53rd, Michael Little finished 55th, Jamison Bartrug finished 57th, and Tyler Lulek 65th. Although no runners qualified to go onto state, Sanders finishing time was the highest in school history finishing out a season of broken records for the team this year.
