This past Saturday, the RCHS and RCMS Dance Teams traveled to Lexington to perform on Kroger Field, the University of Kentucky football stadium. The team was lucky enough to perform at halftime of the Kentucky vs Murray State game as a part of “UK Dance Day”. I sat down with Senior Macey Robertson to discuss the event and what it involved.
I began by asking Macey how they received this opportunity. She explained to me that the two teams, along with a few others, were invited by The University of Kentucky Dance Team. According to Macey, “They sent us the choreography a couple weeks early and we learned three different dances.” They began their day by meeting at the high school and left by 4:15 a.m. Throughout the day they practiced the dances, socialized with new people, and finally ended the day with a grand performance at halftime. While there, they were also able to enjoy the Wildcat’s 48-10 victory over the Racers!
We are super proud of the RCMS and RCHS Dance Teams. To even be chosen for this was a huge opportunity. And not to mention, they had an amazing performance. They work extremely hard every day and never fail to amaze us. Their list of accomplishments is continuously growing. We wish them the best of luck as they begin preparing for competition season.
