This past weekend, our mighty Laker marching band performed their 2018 show entitled “We are Too” in their last regular season competition at Barren County High School on Saturday, October 13th. In preliminary competition, the band performed at 12:30 and at the presentation of preliminary awards ceremony they were awarded first place in class AAA. They also earned the class AAA best guard award.
In finals competition later that evening, Russell County took the field at 7:30 p.m. as one of ten bands competing. At the finals award ceremony, Russell was presented the following: Best Overall music, Best Overall visual, and Best overall effect. Also, the band was awarded Grand Champion receiving the highest score of the night, 88, and a distinguished rating.
The directors and staff are extremely proud of the band’s accomplishments this season and their hard work they put in to achieve their goals. Mr. Ervin, Russell County Band Director, reminds students how essential their continued effort is to the program with his motto, “Success is never owned. It is rented and rent is due today!”
We wish the best of luck to the band this weekend as they travel to Warren Central for the AAA West Regional Competition!
