Last week, our very own Russell County High school FFA group traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in national competitions against schools all across America. Ms. Garmon, and 16 of her certified FFA students traveled up to Indiana to show what Russell County was all about, while at the same time enjoying many “Ag Tours” and even winning Garth Brooks concert tickets, worth over $1000.
Elizabeth Jones, Amber Burton, and Kolton Grider who all competed back in March, were some of the main competitors for nationals this year. These students competed in the “Agricultural Marketing Team” contest, where the students would show off a marketing plan that they have developed new advertisements for a business they selected.
Russell County selected Reva’s Greenhouse to develop new ways of advertisements for their business. In a 6 month long process, our FFA students investigated the businesses marketing strategies, making new social media accounts and print plans according to their needs. Ms. Garmon and her students are still awaiting to see their results from hours of hard work.
We asked Ms. Garmon if she had anything to say in regards to her FFA students, her reply was “I absolutely love my students, they’re the best. With all of them being very competitive they win more regional and state titles more than any other program in this school. We have won 16 regional titles, beating out 11 other schools. They’re the best students ever.”
