The Russell County High School Swim Team hosted their annual ” Fall Preview” on Saturday 11/16. At this event, over 274 swimmers and divers from around Kentucky participated.
In individual competition, Gaby Alvizo scored 3rd place finishes in 50 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, and 50 Fly. Lexi Edwards raced to a 2nd place finish in 50 Breast stroke. For the boys, Max Lawson was the event winner in 50 Back and was 2nd in 50 Free & 50 Fly. Nathan Garland earned a 3rd place finish in 50 Back, and Chad Grider finished 3rd in 50 Fly. In relay competition the Russell County Girls Relay Team of Emma Rae Phillips, Lexi Edwards, Camryn Woodrum, and Gaby Alvizo dominated with event wins in all 4 relays. On the boys side, the relay team of Michael Little, Chad Grider, Nathan Garland, and Max Lawson were event winners in the 200 Free and 200 Back Relays, and finished 2nd in 200 Breast and 200 Fly. Russell County High school won the event overall, with a score of 391 points over 2nd Place Meade County.
The Russell County High school Cheerleaders traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky to compete at their regional competition over the weekend. With a outstanding performance in the “Game Day” division, Russell County secured a spot in the state competition, by placing 2nd Overall.
The Laker Bowling team traveled to Campbellsville and Green county last week for 2 regular season matches. At Campbellsville, the Lakers won 7-0. Jason Walmack had the High Game with a score of 232, followed by Zack Kean with a score of 224. At Green County, the Lakers won 7-0. Zack Kean led with the High Game score of 258, followed by Jason Walmack with a score of 257.
