Last Week in Laker Sports – Dec. 3

Ryan Coffey was named Player of the Game in the Legacy Nissan Classic on Saturday.
The Laker Boys Basketball team traveled to North Laurel High School to compete in the “Nissan Legacy Classic” tournament Saturday. They faced Madison Southern High school. Unfortunately, the Lakers fell to the Eagles, by a score of 89-54. Coach Carson had this to say about the game:  “We did some good things at times but ultimately shot ourselves in the foot with all the turnovers. We’re asking some guys to take on a bigger role than they’ve had in the past. They’ve gotta grow up and step up. Until then, we turn the page and get ready for Greenwood.”  Ryan Coffey was awarded “Player of the Game” as the leading scorer with 14 points.

The Lady Laker Basketball team faced both McCreary Central and Warren East High School last week for their first two games of the season.  The Lady Lakers Dominated McCreary Central with a final score of 85-63, and defeated Warren East with a closer score of 62-54. Haley Southerland Led the team with 14 points in both games.

The RCHS Cheerleaders traveled to Sevierville, Tennessee for the “UCA Cheer Competition” Saturday. They won both 1st place in the “Gameday” and the “Two and a half” in the Large Co-ed Varsity division. The Cheer team will soon travel to Disney World to compete in the UCA National competition.

On Tuesday the Laker Bowling team traveled to Briar Bowl Lanes to take on the Wayne Co Cardinals. The Lady Lakers finished with 7 wins and 0 losses. High scores for the girls was Brooklynne Carol 185 and Makayla Melson 173. The Laker boys finished with 6 wins and 1 loss. High scores for the boys was Jason Womack 233 and Chris Smith 227. On Friday the Lakers bowling team hosted the Taylor Co Cardinals at Laker Lanes. The Lady Lakers finished with 6 wins and 1 loss. High scores for the girls was Brooklynne
Carroll 191 and Kayla Kean 182. The Laker boys finished with 6 wins and 1 loss. High scores for the boys was Zack Kean 277, Jason Womack 266, and Dylan Stringer 245.

The Laker Swim Team traveled to Columbia on Tuesday night to take on Adair County in their first dual meet of the season. The Lakers Defeated Adair County by a score of 127.5 to 47.5.  Emma Rae Phillips, Max Lawson, & Chad Grider each won both events they swam on Tuesday.
