Last Week in Laker Sports – Feb. 4th

On Monday, the Laker Bowling teams top 4 girls and boys completed in the 2nd region singles event. For the girls, Brooklynne Carroll finished 22nd, Ryleigh Withers 35th, Makayla Melson 37th, and Rylee Gilbert 40th. For the boys Dylan Stringer finished 12th, Zack Kean 14th, Jason Womack 21st, and Clay Loveless 24th. The Laker Boys Bowling team will travel to Louisville on February 8th to compete in the KHSAA state finals.

On Tuesday, both the Boys & Girls Laker Basketball teams faced off against Metcalfe County for the final District games of the regular season. The Boys fell to the Hornets on a last-second shot, making the final score 53-56.  Briley Hadley led in scoring with 21 Points. The Lady Lakers fell to the Lady Hornets with a final score of 59-69, with Shiaynn Elkins leading in scoring with a total of 24 points.

In more regular-season basketball play, The Lakers faced off against the Jackson County Generals on Friday. The Lakers fell to the Generals with a score of 59-62, with Ryan Coffey leading in scoring with 19 points. The Lakers also faced-off against the Marion County Knights on Saturday, losing 61-83.  Scott Hamm led in scoring with 17 points. The Lady Lakers faced the Wayne County Cardinals on Saturday, losing 56-47. The lead scorer was Jaylen Elmore, with a total of 18 points.
