Last Week in Laker Sports – Feb. 11th

On Tuesday, the Boys and Girls Basketball teams were back in action hosting the Barren County Trojans for Senior Night. The boys fell short in a devastating loss in overtime 58 – 47, with Corey Thomas leading the Lakers with a total of 15 points. The Lady Lakers also fell to the Trojans of a score of 68 – 49, with Jaylen Elmore leading the lakers in scoring with a total of 13 points.

On Friday the Laker Boys Bowling team competed in the KHSAA State Tournament. Our Lakers qualified as the number 2 seed for the tournament. In the first round of the bracket they faced Simon Kenton and took the win 3 games to 1 advancing them to the quarter finals where they faced Ballard High School. In a see-saw battle our Lakers went to game 5 to the decide the race to 3 wins, but came up 8 pins short to finish in the top 8 for the second year in a row. This Saturday 4 of our Laker boys, Clay Loveless, Zack Kean, Jason Womack, and Dylan Stringer will be completing in the All-Region Shootout in Erlanger, KY.

Also on Friday, the Laker and Lady Laker Basketball teams plays against rivals Adair Co Indians. The Lady Lakers defeated the Lady Indians by a score of 69-51. The Lady Lakes were led in scoring by Addison Loy with 23 points followed by Juliah Bault with 14 and Jaylen Elmore with 13.  The Lady Lakers improve to 16-11 on the season. On the same night, the Boys team fell to the Indians by a score of 45 – 54, with Briley Hadley and Scott Hamm leading the lakers in scoring with a total of 14 points.  The Laker boys now stand at 6 – 22.

The Laker Swim Team hosted their regionals on Friday and Saturday.  Nathan Garland has complete results here.
