After hearing that Jamestown Elementary School had a book shortage, Rogers Scholar Elizabeth Jones knew she had to help out. In order to fix this problem, Elizabeth came to the rescue and organized a book drive.
Elizabeth has loved to read since she was a young child. When she heard about the shortage at JES, she knew that holding a book drive would be a great way to help out and would also be perfect for her Rogers Scholars community service project. Elizabeth challenged JES students to donate new or gently used books to help out with their first ever “Incredible Book Drive”. To kick off the campaign, Elizabeth dressed up as Mrs. Incredible and talked to the entire student body about the importance of reading.
Jamestown Elementary School students showed just how much they wanted to help out, donating 1,142 books for the first ever “Incredible Book Drive”. Elizabeth was so impressed with this number and she is so thankful for Jamestown Elementary School and the Rogers Scholars program for giving her the opportunity to do this project.
Everyone here at RCHS is extremely proud of Elizabeth and all of her accomplishments. Keep doing great things!
