Russell County High School’s FFA Chapter competes in numerous competitions and events each year. They never fail to exceed high expectations and represent Russell County with the utmost pride. Last night was their final, end of the year celebration banquet, organized by the sponsors Mrs. Bethany Garmon and Mr. Dustin Gosser, where they recognized all of their awards this year.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture was in attendance as well, to present four students with a $250 scholarship for writing a letter about suicide prevention. The following students received this award: Allie Wilson, Grayci Cape, Elizabeth Jones, and Brittany Collins.
Another large honor from the night was the Leadership Pin Presentation. One student from each grade was given this award based on participation, attendance, reliability, and leadership skills. The recipients were Brannon Lawson, Kolten Grider, Kara Ryder, and Sophie Shearer.
Other awards included: 46 students who passed the Agriculture End of Program Assessment for 3 hours of college credit; 16 students received their Greenhand Degree Pin; 10 students received a Chapter Degree Pin; and 6 seniors were awarded a State Degree Pin.
Good luck to the outgoing officers and seniors in their next steps of life and congratulations to all of the FFA members for another very successful year!
