All of our Laker Spring Sports were back in action last week!
The Laker Boys Tennis team fell to Greenwood 1-4 on Monday. In doubles, Nathan McQueary and Nathan Lawson won their pro set 8-4.
On Tuesday the Laker Boys Tennis team defeated Monroe County 4-1. In singles, Jay Bailey won his set 6-2. In doubles, Marcus Allen and Max Lawson won their pro set 8-3. Nathan McQueary and Nathan Lawson won their set 6-3 and Jaxon Popplewell and Braden Coe won their set 6-2. The Laker Girls Tennis team lost to Monroe County 1-4 overall. In singles Abby Grant won 6-4 and Megan Wilham won her singles mini set by a score of 4-2.
As we reported previously, the Laker Boys Tennis team won the 16th District Tournament last week as well. Both the girls and boys Tennis teams are in the Regional Tournament later this week.
Laker Baseball was back in action for a district game, along with another regular season game. On Tuesday, the Lakers faced the Clinton County Bulldogs for a District game. The Lakers dominated the Bulldogs 15-0, ending the game in just the 3rd inning.
On Wednesday, the Lakers traveled to Glasgow High School to face the Scotties in another regular-season game. The Lakers clutched out a win against the Scotties from being down significantly in the 2nd inning, only to come back and win with a score of 30-24. The Laker Baseball team’s record is now 19-4.
Our Lady Laker Softball team also had 2 regular season games last week. On Monday, they hosted the Glasgow Lady Scotties. In 8 innings, the Lakers defeated the Scotties 9-8.
On Tuesday, the Lady Lakers hosted Pulaski County High School, unfortunately falling to the Lady Maroons 5-10. The Lady Laker Softball record is now 16-5.
The Laker Track & Field team traveled to Greensburg to compete in the “Carl Deaton Classic” meet last week. Maddie McQueary placed 1st in the “Girls 100m Hurdles” event.
