Last Week in Laker Sports Sept. 9

The Russell County Laker Football team hosted the Metcalfe County Hornets Friday night. The Lakers came out on top with a score of 28-26, making their record 3-0. Dylan Bland led the team with a total of 196 rushing yards. CJ Vonfumetti led the team on defense with 8 defensive tackles. Mason Hinkle returned a interception 29 yards for a touchdown. The Mighty Lakers will travel to Casey County on Friday to face the 0-3 Rebels.

The Laker Boys Golf Team played in the Louisville Butler Invitational at Quail Chase Golf Course. The Lakers shot a team score of 347 and that placed them 13th out of a 21 team field. Scoring for the Lakers: Clay Anderson 79, Bentley Perkerson 86, Dru Stapp 89, Chase Carpenter 93, Nick Blakey 93. The Lakers will travel to Adair County on Tuesday for a match at the Pines. The Lakers will travel Saturday to the Meade County Invitational.

The Lady Laker Golf Team traveled to Bowling Green on Saturday for an Invitational match. Scoring for the Lakers: McKenize Trautman 88, Kamryn Richardson 92, Breanna Trautman 94, Audrey Burton 106, and Madalyn Wright 119. The Lady Lakers will travel to Henry Clay for another Invitational this week.

Over the weekend the Lady Laker Volleyball Team traveled to Larue County to participate in the Abraham Slam Jam Tournament. Bringing home 2 wins and 3 losses. They defeated Larue County (2-1) and Webster County (2-0) but were defeated by Meade County (0-2), Spencer County (0-3), and Elizabethtown (0-2). On Tuesday, they will travel to Clinton County to take on the Lady Bulldogs.

The Cross County Team did not compete last week but will travel to Lincoln County to participate in the Lincoln County All Comers on Thursday. That’s all for Laker Sports this week!
