The Laker Boys Golf team traveled to Meade County on Saturday and shot their lowest score of the season in the 14-team field. The team score of 314 was good enough to place them in 3rd among all teams. Three Laker golfers shot their season best scores on the weekend. Leading the way for Russell County was Clay Anderson winning the overall medalist for the Invitational. Clay shot a 2 under par 69 to capture his first Invitational win of the season. Bentley Perkerson shot his lowest score of an invitational this season by shooting an 80 for the Lakers. Dru Stapp shot his lowest score also, firing an 81. Chase Carpenter shot an 84 and Nick Blakey shot a 89.
The Lady Laker Golf team played at the Henry Clay Invitational at Lakeside Golf course in Lexington on Saturday. Total team was 372. Scoring for the Lakers: Kamryn Richardson 85, Breanna Trautman 92, McKenzie Trautman 87, Audrey Burton 108 and Madalyn Wright 120.
The Russell County Laker football team traveled to Casey County Friday night, falling to the Rebels 34-19. Dylan Bland rushed for 117 yards and CJ Vonfumetti returned a interception 86 yards for a touchdown as the Lakers fell to 3-1 on the season. They travel to Warren East this Friday to play the Raiders.
The Volleyball team traveled to Clinton County on Tuesday losing 0-3. They hosted Metcalfe on Thursday winning 3-0. They host Monroe County tonight.
The Cross Country team Traveled to Lincoln County this week to take part in the Lincoln County All Comers meet. Justin Stearns placed 2nd and Tyler Lulek placed 3rd, while the team overall placed 1st. The cross country team will compete again Tuesday at North Laurel in an all-comers meet.
