It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Laker fall sports teams, so let’s get you caught up!
The Cross Country team traveled to Mercer County to compete in an all-comers meet. They had three boys finishing in the top 10: Justin Stearns placed 3rd, Tyler Lulek 4th, and Clayton Trosper 10th. They will travel to Somerset to compete in an all-comers meet at Southwestern Today, October 15th.
On Friday, October 4th the Mighty Laker Football Team hosted the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats. The Lakers played hard but came up a little short with a score of 21-35. Dylan Bland led the team with 126 rushing yards. Mason Hinkle led the team on defense with 13 tackles. After a bye week on fall break, The Lakers will travel to Butler County this Friday October 18th, to take on the Bears.
The Lady Laker Volleyball team traveled to Wayne County, October 1st losing all three games. On October 3rd, they traveled to Somerset to face to the Briar Jumpers winning 3-1. October 7th the Lady Lakers hosted Marion County losing 1-2. The Lady Lakers will host Casey County, Today, October 15th starting at 5:00p.m.
On day one of the KHSAA State Golf Tournament, Clay Anderson shot a score of 76 for his opening round. This score was good enough to qualify for the championship round of the tournament. The twelve teams and the top 42 individual’s moved on to day 2 for the championship. On day two of the championship, Clay was sitting just seven strokes off the lead. Clay was not able to get his putter going for the round and was not able to climb the leaderboard as he had hoped. He shot a score of 83 for his second round of play and that placed him in a tie for 47rd out of the 144 golfers competing for the state championship.
