Last Week in Laker Sports – Dec. 9

The Laker Swim & Dive Team was back in action on Tuesday night with a visit from neighboring Pulaski County and Southwestern.  The Lakers were dominant in the water with victories in 18 of 22 events.  The Lakers are now 7-0 in regular season meets this season.  Varsity swimmers Camryn Woodrum, Gaby Alvizo, Emma Rae Phillips, Max Lawson, Dawson Haydon were victorious in both of their individual events.  Michael Little, Seth Overly, & Allie Mann also added victories to the Lakers total.

The Laker Swim & Dive Team is back in action Tuesday night at 6:00 when Marion County comes to town.  We would also like to congratulate Laker Swimmer Emma Rae Phillips who earned her spot in the Laker Swim 1000 Point Club last Tuesday night. She is only the 2nd Laker Swimmer to earn that honor. 

On Thursday the Laker Bowling team hosted the Wayne County Cardinals at Laker Lanes. The Lady Lakers finished with 5 wins and 2 losses. High scores for the girls were Brooklynne Carroll 178 and Korrin Therrien 176. The Boys Bowling Team finished with 7 wins and no losses. High scores for the boys were Jason Womack 247, Zack Kean 227, Dylan Stringer 225, and Braden Coe 208. The Laker Bowling Team’s next match is Thursday as they will host Barren Co at Laker Lanes at 4:30.

The Lady Laker Basketball team started their season off by hosting Garrard County at home on Tuesday. Senior Juliah Bault hit a last-second shot to win the game with the final score Russell Co. 58, Garrard Co. 56.

The Lady Laker Basketball team played again on Friday, hosting McCreary Central. The Lady Lakers won 72-63. On Saturday, they traveled to Bowling Green to face Warren Central in the State Farm District Challenge. The Lakers defeated the Dragons 64-63. Star Marcum led the team in scoring with a career high of 27 points. The 3-0 Lady Lakers will host Greenwood High on Tuesday Dec. 10 at 6:00.

Last Tuesday the Laker Boys Basketball team traveled to Somerset to play the Briar Jumpers. The Lakers came up short, losing 50-66. Ryan Coffey led the team in scoring with 17 points, and Scott Hamm led the team with 7 rebounds.

On Saturday, the Boys Basketball team traveled to Mercer County to play Garrard County in the McRay Feed Classic. The Lakers defeated the Lions 60-30. Briley Hadley led the team in scoring with 17 points, and Scott Hamm led the team with 10 rebounds. On Tuesday the 1-1 Lakers will host Greenwood at 7:30.
