Last night at Laker Gym the Lady Laker Basketball team defeated the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets in OT 79-71 for the Championship of the 16th District Tournament.   They will next play Glasgow this Sunday 3/1 at 2:00 PM in the first round of the Region 4 Basketball Tournament at WKU.

The District championship game was a back-and-forth thriller that went to overtime before the Lady Lakers prevailed.  The Lady Lakers were down by as many as 14 points (in the 2nd quarter), and were down by 10 at halftime before roaring back to tie the game at the end of regulation.  In their last game at Laker Gym this season, the leading scorers for this game were Juliah Bault with a career-high double-double game (40 points and 10 rebounds) and also Star Marcum with another double-double effort of her own (23 points and 17 rebounds).

The 4th Region Girls Tournament draw took place this morning at Warren East High School.  The Lady Lakers will face the Lady Scotties of Glasgow High on Sunday March 1st at 2:00 pm at E.A Diddle Arena at Western Kentucky University.

Tickets for the opening game will be sold tomorrow (Saturday 2/29) at RCHS from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for a cost of $6 until they sell out.  After the first 300 pre-sale tickets are sold the price will be $8 each.

If the Lady Lakers were to win and move on to the semifinals, they would face the winner of Bowling Green vs. Russellville; that game would be on March 6th at 6:00 pm.

We would like for everyone to come out and support our Lady Lakers as they try to win this 4th Region Tournament next week.
