Several Russell County High School coaches, past and present, formed a committee and met this morning in regards to creating a new scholarship fund in honor of Larry “Flash” Wilson and his mother, Geraldine. Our beloved Flash passed away yesterday. He will forever be known for his undying support of Laker athletics and all of our Russell County High School students.
“As many of you are aware, we lost a life-long athletic supporter in Larry “Flash” Wilson on January 14th. He was involved in RC athletics for 5 decades,” the committee says. “We will be setting up a scholarship fund in his name. Donations can be dropped off at Bank of Jamestown, H.E. Pruitt Funeral Home, or Russell County High or Middle School.”
Donations can be made starting today. The committee will continue to meet to discuss the requirements of scholarship applicants. If you would like more information, please contact anyone currently serving on the Flash Memorial Fund Committee: David Rexroat, Ryan Richardson, Charlie Anderson, Keith Ellis, Brett Blankenship, Billy Carson, or Michael Carpenter.
